Wood as a Living Material

At SATORI, wood is treated as a living material. Solid wood reacts to light, air, temperature, and touch. It matures. It records time. Unlike industrial surfaces designed to remain unchanged, wood evolves with use. This change is part of the material itself. Each piece begins its life long before it enters your home. Our role is to work with that history — shaping the material while allowing it to remain honest.

Our Woods

Each SATORI object is defined first by its wood. Not by trend. Not by decoration. By character.

Oak — The Keeper

Grounded. Timeless.

Oak is central to Nordic interiors.
Dense, structured, enduring.

Its pronounced grain and weight give it quiet authority.
Oak holds space without demanding attention.

Character
Stable, calm, confident.
How it ages
Oak gains depth and warmth over time.
Its surface becomes richer, its grain more expressive.
Marks are absorbed into the material.

Walnut — The Depth

Warm. Intimate.

Walnut is valued for its depth and warmth.
Its darker tone absorbs light rather than reflecting it.

The grain moves slowly and quietly, creating a sense of closeness.

Character
Soft strength. Calm intimacy.
How it ages
Touch polishes the surface.
Time deepens the tone and smooths the grain.

Ash — The Balancer

Light. Precise.

Ash carries light without glare.
Straight-grained, calm, quietly luminous.

It brings clarity and openness to space.

Character
Balanced, disciplined, restrained.
How it ages
Ash maintains its brightness while gaining subtle warmth.
Its structure remains clear and stable.

Acacia — The Warmth

Expressive. Alive.

Acacia is rich and dynamic.
Its grain is bold and organic.

Each piece is visually distinct.

Character
Warm, generous, expressive.
How it ages
Contrast deepens.
Grain becomes more pronounced.

Care & Aging

How to live with wood

Daily care

  • Wipe with a dry or slightly damp cloth
  • Do not soak in water
  • Avoid dishwashers and prolonged moisture

Oils & nourishment

Wood, like skin, needs nourishment.
When the surface feels dry, refresh it with natural wood oil.
This restores depth, protects the grain, and keeps the surface alive.

Patina & marks

Small marks, soft scratches, changes in tone — these are not defects.

They are signs of use.
Of presence.
Of life.

Each mark becomes personal.
Each surface becomes yours.

Aging is part of the design

Mass-produced objects aim to look untouched forever.
SATORI objects are designed to belong.
